Finding the right players for your roster is key to success if you’re a fantasy football player. And in 2014, one player who may be worth taking a chance on is Christian Kirksey. A rookie out of Iowa, the athlete was chosen by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 NFL Draft, and he’s already making a name for himself as a standout player.
The Reasons to Take a Look at the Athlete
So why is Kirksey a player to watch in fantasy football this year? For starters, he’s a tackling machine. In his college career at Iowa, Kirksey racked up an incredible 272 tackles, and he’s continued to be a reliable tackler in the NFL.
This makes him a valuable player in fantasy football leagues that use an IDP (Individual Defensive Player) scoring system, as tackles are a vital stat for IDPs.
But man’s value doesn’t stop at tackles. He’s also a solid coverage linebacker, able to drop back into pass coverage and make plays on the ball. This makes him a threat to intercept passes and score defensive touchdowns, which can boost your fantasy team’s scoring.
Kirksey’s versatility is also worth considering for your fantasy squad. In Cleveland’s defense, he can play inside and outside linebacker, which gives him a chance to rack up tackles and make plays all over the field. This makes him a valuable asset in any defensive scheme.
One potential concern with Kirksey is the Browns’ defense as a whole. Cleveland has struggled recently, and their defense has ranked near the bottom of the league in points allowed. However, the man has shown the ability to be a standout player even in a struggling defense, and he could be a bright spot for the Browns this year.
In short, Christian is a player to keep an eye on in fantasy football this year. His tackling ability and versatility make him a valuable asset in IDP leagues, and his coverage skills give him the potential to make big plays and score points for your fantasy team. Don’t be surprised if Kirksey became a household name in the world of fantasy football in 2014.
